Introducing Ourselves
In Hungary there are 12 Environmental and Water Directorates covering the entire area of the country. The directorates in their assigned territory attend administrational matters and manage important water infrastructure (like rivers, flood-control dykes, pumping stations etc.). Part of the natural waters in the South-Transdanubian region is under the management of the South-Transdanubian Environmental Protection and Water Management Directorate (DDKÖVIZIG). These waters in the region have not a single shore at which DDKÖVIZIG is not present with its work, task and services.
The South-Transdanubian Environmental Protection and Water Management Directorate works and performs its activities under the direction of the Ministry of Environment and Water and the National Environmental and Water Directorate. It provides and protects water, not just at the time of flooding, together with other governmental organizations like the South-Transdanubian Environmental, Nature Conservation and Water Directorate and the Duna-Drava National Park Directorate. The collaboration and partnership among the organizations also signifies the importance of water protection: water is the main condition of life.
”Water, thou hast no taste, no color, no odor; canst not be defined, art relished while ever mysterious. Not necessary to life, but rather life itself”
Saint-Exupéry, Antoine de
